Safety Practice

Harley Owners Group (HOG) members practice safe riding by following safety guidelines, attending safety classes, and participating in safety events. 

Safety guidelines

  • Check your bike: Before every ride, check your tires, controls, lights, oil, chassis, and side-stands. 
  • Wear protective gear: Wear a DOT-approved helmet, long-sleeve shirt or jacket, long pants, over-the-ankle boots, eye protection, and full-finger gloves. 
  • Be prepared for weather: Be prepared for sudden changes in weather, especially wet roads. 
  • Maintain a safe distance: Keep a safe distance from other riders and vehicles. 
  • Use hand signals: Use hand signals and turn signals to communicate with other riders and drivers. 
  • Ride at a safe speed: Ride at the speed limit or a safe speed for the conditions. 

Safety classes

  • Take a safety class to learn about safe riding techniques. 
  • Attend a skilled rider course to learn advanced tips and techniques. 

Safety events 

  • Participate in safety events like field days to practice emergency braking, swerving, and other maneuvers.

Panther Creek HOG Safety Training is held on the First Sunday every month at Black Gold. (check Calendar for exact details)

KSU 8:00 am from Black Gold to ride to breakfast at Little Gus Cafe located at 6905 Coit Road, Plano or meet us for bike skills practice at 9:30 a.m at Black Gold parking lot.
